KAWARTHA LAKES - Extremely dry conditions throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes have prompted fire officials to implement a complete burn ban until Apr, 30.

All burn permits are on hold until further notice and fires are prohibited under City of Kawartha Lakes By-law 2008-215.

Under section 8.03 of the by-law, those setting a fire during a burn ban can be charged under the Provincial Offences Act and will also be responsible for the costs of fire control, the city stated in a press release.
