-Tomorrow, the world of magic will come to the Academy Theatre with the arrival of illusionist Claude Haggerty.

The entertainer learned the art of illusion at an early age, show organizers stated in a release.

One day in Grade 7, the Dunville native discovered a book on magic and illusion in his school library. He soon learned two card tricks, and his life would never be the same.

While in Grade 8, he discovered another book purely by accident, which he said helped him to make his dreams come true. At this time in his life, he was in foster care and had a stuttering problem.

"Having dreams come true was something I was not accustomed to," Haggerty stated. "I made a list of goals and dreams and taped them to my locker."

He has since performed before millions of people and has raised more than $4 million for charity and visited more than 8,000 schools to promote the importance of following ones dreams.

According to organizers, Haggerty is one of the very few magicians to ever vanish an elephant, an illusion he has performed more than 300 times.

He has also entertained 140,000 people at the West Edmonton Mall and appeared on the Jay Leno Show.

Tickets are $15 and are available at the Academy Theatre box office.

The show is tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 28 at 2 p. m. Seats are first come, first serve.
