DRUGS, HANDGUN SEIZED

ELDON TWP.-Two men and a woman face drug-related charges after an estimated $15,000 worth of drugs and a handgun were seized as police searched a Sandringham Road property on Nov. 16.

Some 725 grams of marijuana bud, cannabis resin, heroin and ecstacy, a 9 mm handgun and ammunition were found by the OPP Central Drug Enforcement Unit as a search warrant was executed, police said.

Yan Ling Li, 46, Al Jian Zheng, 53, and Wu Zheng, 23, of the City of Kawartha Lakes, were charged with production of cannabis marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of heroin, possession of ecstasy, possession of cannabis resin under one gram, unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm.

The accused are scheduled to appear in Lindsay court on Jan. 14, 2010.

MAN CHARGED AFTER BREAK IN

LINDSAY-A Lindsay man faces several charges after police got word of a suspicious man in the area of Denniston and St. Patrick streets about 9:35 a. m. on Nov. 26.

The suspect was allegedly found with property taken in several break and enters, including from a Kawartha Lakes Road 36 business, stated City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service.

The suspect also allegedly made threats towards a witness and officers at the police station after being arrested, police said.

Glen Rivers, 37, was charged with three counts of possession of stolen property, two counts of uttering threats and single counts of break and enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of break in tools.

The accused was held for a bail hearing the same day.

CHARGES AFTER ROLLOVER

MANVERS TWP.-A 22-year-old Pontypool man faces charges after a rollover on Telecom Rd. about 9:30 p. m. Friday.

The driver of a GMC Jimmy SUV was eastbound on Telecom Rd when he entered the ditch and rolled, stated City of Kawartha Lakes OPP. There were four occupants in the vehicle at the time -one reported minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Ryan Cameron was charged with careless driving.

FAIL TO REMAIN

MARIPOSA TWP.-City of Kawartha Lakes OPP are looking for a driver who allegedly fled the scene of a collision on Sunday.

Police were called to a fail to remain collision located at the intersection of Ramsay Rd. and Fingerboard Rd. in the former Mariposa Township about 6:10 p. m. Sunday.

A vehicle westbound on Ramsay Rd. was attempting to turn left on to Fingerboard Rd. when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck, OPP stated. The driver of the truck stbound at a high rate of speed, police stated.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark coloured pickup truck. The truck will have extensive damage to the front right corner as a result of the crash.

2,399 VEHICLES CHECKED

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes OPP checked 2,399 vehicles this past weekend during the festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

Two drivers were issued warn range suspensions, police said.

This year's festive RIDE program runs from Friday, Nov. 27 to Saturday, Jan. 2.
