The MOE has confirmed blue-green algae in Sturgeon Lake (and also Pigeon Lake). A large number of people draw their water from the lake, especially during summer cottage season. "Find a different source" is not an acceptable response. Sure, I can buy bottled water for drinking and cooking, but where can I find a shower? Where can I wash dishes? Where can I wash my hands? What about people who rented cottages for a week or two? Do you think they will ever return? What are the MOE doing about the problem? Nothing. They have the technology to fix it. The algae is going to die and give off these toxins sooner or later anyhow, why not kill it now, and be done with it? Why not explain how to kill the toxins? How about explaining how we get them out of our hot water tanks? The MNR, Parks Canada, Trent Severn, and a whole bunch of other government agencies all have a say when you want a permit to do something, where are they now?
